HF-SSB Propagation Charts:

Australia's Ionospheric Prediction Service  creates propagation predictions to assist HF radio users. The IPS has established automatically updated HAP (Hourly Area Predictions) charts on their website for BRUNEI BAY RADIO. To see these predictions go to IPS - Radio and Space Services and:

1. Select  HF Systems  on the top navigation bar

2. Select  Asia - HAP Charts  in the left navigation index

3. Select  Daily HAP Charts  from the choices offered

4. Select  Brunei Bay Radio and the time period (UTC) required, then click on Display

Many factors contribute to the accuracy of the predictions.  Short term events (eg: sun spots) will have short term consequences for the precision of these predictions.  These charts have proven to be a good starting point for selecting a frequency.

SailMail and BBRemail subscribers have access to the ICEPAC propagation program integrated with their on-board e-mail software. Enter the present position, select Brunei and the display shows what frequencies are best for the time of day. Sunspot and SFI index information is automatically updated each time the vessel connects with BRUNEI BAY RADIO
